Dry run will be done at three points in every capital. Some remote districts will also include it, which is difficult to reach. Through this exercise, the government wants to test the preparation of its machinery.

After conducting a successful trial of preparation of Corona vaccination in four states, the Central Government has now decided to conduct a dry run across the country. On January 2, all states and union territories will be run dry simultaneously. For this, three points will be fixed in the capitals. States will be exempted to include remote districts in the process where it may be difficult to deliver the vaccine. On December 28 and 29, preparation of machinery for vaccination was tested in two districts each of Punjab, Assam, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat.

Meanwhile, the Drug Controller General (DCGI) on Friday indicated that the vaccine would be available early next year. He said in a webinar that the vaccine candidate is receiving funds and the biotechnology department is also making efforts. Perhaps the new year will be very happy, because we will have something. This is what I can indicate right now.

There will also be a dry run in big cities in Maharashtra and Kerala

After the high-level meeting with the states, the Health Ministry said on Thursday that the purpose of this mega drill is to test cold chain management, supply of vaccine, storage and logistics and preparation of entire machinery. Apart from its capital, Maharashtra and Kerala, which are most affected by Corona in the country, can also dry-run in some other big cities.

On 20 December, the Central Government issued the guidelines for this. For this, the Medical Officer Incharge will prepare a list of 25 health workers participating in the vaccination process. States must decide whether their data is uploaded to Co-Win. These health workers will be present during the dry run.

What is dry run?

Till now the government has been vaccinating only children and pregnant women. For this also, one day of the week is decided in different states. This is the first time the adult population in the country will also be vaccinated. Because of this, the central government is running a dry run to see the preparation of government machinery for vaccination drives.

In this, the process of transporting the vaccine from cold chain to vaccination sites in the states will be examined. Similarly, efforts will be made to find out what kind of problems can occur on vaccination sites.

This is how the whole process will be tested

The dry run will have the necessary data entry on COVIN (Co-WIN). There will be vaccine delivery on online platforms, receipt and allocation of testing, appointment of team members, mock drills at vaccination sites.

This includes real-time tracking of cold storage and transportation arrangements for the COVID-19 vaccine. Along with managing congestion at vaccination sites, physical distancing is also being seen.
