The corona wave in the country is now slowing down. According to the Ministry of Health, a clear positive trend is visible in the recovery. There is also a decrease in the active case. There are only 8 states where more than 10,000 cases are being reported every day. In 26 states, more number of patients are recovering than new cases. Only 8 states are left where there are more than 1 lakh active cases. The country has recorded a positivity rate of 14.10% on Tuesday. The most affected Maharashtra, UP, Delhi, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are reducing case and positivity rates.
Kovaxin trial on children to begin in two weeks
NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul said that the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved second and third phase clinical trials of covaxin on children aged 2 to 18 years. I have been told that these trials will begin in the next 10-12 days. In addition, DRDO’s developed anti-covid drug 2DG has also received emergency use approval. We will examine the drug to add it to the treatment protocol.
Better conditions than other countries
Joint Secretary of Health Ministry Luv Agarwal said on Tuesday that we are in better condition than other countries of the world. Only 1.8% of the total population of the country has been affected by the disease so far. We are able to prevent the spread of infection in less than 2% of the population.
He reported that on 3 May the average recovery in the country was 81.7%. It has increased to 85.6%. 4,22,436 people have recovered in the last 24 hours in the country, which is the highest ever recovery in the country. Cases have been continuously working since 15 days. In Kerala, 99,651 people have recovered from Corona in the last 24 hours.
27% cases reduced after May 7
According to the Ministry of Health, on an average, more than 18 lakh tests are being done every day in the country. Continuous testing is being increased. For some time, the focus has been on the Containment Zone. Its effect is visible. More than 2.63 lakh cases have been registered in the last 24 hours in the country. On May 7, India had the highest number of 4.14 lakh cases. Since then, the new cases have decreased by 27%. There are 199 districts in the country, where the infection has been decreasing since 3 weeks.
