ITR filing date extended
The government has extended the time for filing income tax. Now, Income Tax Return (ITR) can be filed by 10 January. According to the information, a total of 4.37 crore ITRs were filled up to 28 December. Those filing personal income tax, whose accounts are not required to be audited, can file returns by 10 January. At the same time, ITR has been extended till February 15 for those who pay taxes and have their accounts audited and those who have to report international financial transactions. With this, the government has extended the last date of tax audit report to 15 January 2021.
Good news for employees
There is great news for the employees before the new year from the government. The government has accepted a proposal to pay a lump sum interest of 8.5% on the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) for 2019-20. It is possible that this amount of interest should reach the employees account by 31 December 2020. A government official said that a meeting of the Ministry of Labor and Finance was held this week on the proposal related to the interest rate. It was in this meeting that EPFO was allowed to pay a one-time 8.5% interest.
Break on UK flights in the new year
The number of patients infected with the more dangerous corona virus found in Britain in the country has increased to 20. On Wednesday, 13 new patients were found. Meanwhile, the government has extended the ban on flights to and from the UK till 7 January. It was earlier banned from midnight of 22 December to 31 December. Apart from this, the government has extended the ban on all international commercial flights till 31 January. The ban on special and cargo flights will not apply.
Strains in the country due to Corona’s new strain
Amidst the threat of Corona’s new strain, about 33,000 people who returned from Britain in a month have increased the government’s troubles. Tracing of people from the UK is not being done in many states like Bihar, Punjab and Maharashtra. Many passengers have given the address and number incorrect, which is causing trouble in tracing. Punjab has the highest 3 thousand 426 people returned from Britain, out of which 2 thousand 426 were not traced. At the same time, more than 1200 people returned to Maharashtra, out of which 109 people from Pune are missing.
